I was working with a debt consolidation company and I was in the middle of a payment plan with this company for my AT&T bill and I was trying to set up payments directly to them so the settlement wasnt lost but both times I was hung up on.

Was told they aren't a creditor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I can't contacted ERC and I explained just because AT&T was their client didn't mean that I agreed to have my bill that should have been $0 after returning the devices and paying my remaining balance off. I was told well we aren't a creditor. I said thank you. I am now on the hunt for an attorney. The person clearly stated ERC isn't a creditor. Interesting so, why are they on my credit report??? Anyone else they have said this to? I was cussed at as well so nice. I feel like scammers exist everywhere. I threatened to sue them if they didn't remove themselves from my credit reports. Again the pets n got agitated and rude and kept saying Ma'am we aren't a creditor. That's all I'm just annoyed that this is messing up my credit. Oh well life goes on just pay attention to what they say to you

Disputing ERC's Claim Report to Credit Companies

I am writing to dispute credit information filed by ERC to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Account Number: 240679XXX. The credit reports do not provide me the entire account number. Specifically, ERC is claiming I have a Comcast Cable Communication account and I owe Comcast $713. I do not recognize the account in question and to my knowledge I have never open/closed a Comcast account. Apparently, someone is fraudulently using my name and other personal information to secure Comcast services. Please correct this error ASAP. Dennis J. Newjahr

Enhanced Recovery Company – Scam

I seem to be getting more and more requests for "debt recovery" in the mail and on the phone lately. Enhanced Recovery Company LLC, IC Systems, Convergent Outsourcing, etc. The crazy thing is I have no collections on my Credit report and a score ranging around 820 for several years now. The requests are for old debts of companies I never did business with and are far back as 1997. While companies make mistakes these seem to be too convenient. With all of the resources available to them and other research tools via internet, it should be VERY EASY to identify the correct person for a debt they are seeking collection on. I believe they are SCAMING anybody with a similar name to try to collect on a debt. Either these companies have workers that could not hold a job anywhere else or they are just really suck at doing it properly. I believe they are really good at purposely identifying targets with the same last name and hooking them into the debt. I say this because if you start correspondence by phone with them and do not deny by registered letter that the debt in question is not yours, it may possibly become yours. ARM yourself with the following; Check your credit report, it's FREE yearly. Send a Ceritfied letter with return receipt requested to the company in question DENYING the debt is yours. STRESS that this is the only notification to cease and desist further contact for this debt recovery as outlined in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC section 1692c(c). If the debt really is yours, ignore the above and pay your bills!

Always check the statute of limitation (SOL) for your state. Even if you legally contracted the debt, it is unrecoverable if you assert SOL. NEVER SEND A PAYMENT if the SOL has run.

You are absolutely correct, same thing is happening to me and I am furious that they can get away with harassing the WRONG individual. My name isn't even close to the name of the person that they are trying to collect the debt for.

I got a new phone number and the collection calls started. Told these people when they called that it wasn't me and I don't know this person, but they still kept calling...

Filed report with BBB and FTC and sent certified letter to ERC stating not my bill and to cease calling me as continually calling WRONG individual will NOT get them their money! :(
